Becoming Neighbors Network

Over the past year, our Becoming Neighbors Community Conversations have rapidly expanded to communities, big and small, in Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.  At a time of concerning division and isolation, these gatherings have done a remarkable job of bringing people of different cultures, faiths, ages, nationalities, sexual orientations, and politics to bridge the divide and rebuild understanding, trust, and cooperation across lines of difference in local communities.

Meanwhile, we also launched a new Becoming Neighbors Congregations initiative, which establishes a year-long transformational relationship between two different congregations (different in race, culture, faith, etc…) following a mutually beneficial four step model that includes meaningful conversations, fun exchange, faith at work, and telling the story. At its core, Becoming Neighbors Congregations helps people of faith discover what it means to truly love their neighbors.

This year, we are thrilled to launch a new Becoming Neighbors network to connect those who are helping to lead these efforts across the nation on the last Wednesday in January, March, May, July, September, and November at 7pm CST.  Participants will be able to build community, share experiences, and inspire new ideas on bi-monthly network zoom calls.  The network is for folks who are currently engaged in Becoming Neighbors programs, as well as those who are interested in learning more and partnering with us into the future!

For this Becoming Neighbors network call we will focus on best spaces to hold these gatherings, how to attract a diverse group of participants, and what kinds of questions and interactions lead to meaningful relationships across lines of difference.
