Network Lumzooms
We maintain a terrific network of friends, partners, and supporters across the United States, so it is helpful to keep them all connected through monthly zoom calls or what we call - LumZooms. These calls seek to provide a space for our network, as well as those who are new to Lumunos, to share with and learn from one another.
We recently launched a new Becoming Neighbors Lumzoom network to connect those who are helping to lead Becoming Neighbors programs across the nation on the last Wednesday in January, March, May, July, September, and November at 7pm CST. These bi-monthly network zoom calls help participants share experiences and inspire new ideas for bridge building in their communities, congregations, and workplaces.
In addition to our bi-monthly Becoming Neighbors network zoom calls, we are currently hosting a bi-monthly series called: Is Peace Possible? A Lumzoom Series on Building Peace from Within on the second Wednesday in February, April, June, August, October, and December at 7pm CST.
Our first Luzmoom focused on What We Can All Learn from the Buddhist Monk’s Cross Country Walk for Peace, and were joined by special guest speakers Buddhist monk Bhante Rahula Ingira from the Blue Lotus Temple, Rev. John Dorhauer, former president of the United Church of Christ and Marikay Abuzuiater, Mayor of Greensboro, NC.
We are happy to share that the theme of our next Is Peace Possible Lumzoom series on April 8th will be focused on the Gifts of Vulnerability and the Legacy of Faith at Work. Lumunos has a 100 year history, and was previously known as Faith at Work. Our founder Sam Shoemaker was instrumental in helping to start Alcoholics Anonymous. Throughout our remarkable history, we have always used the gift of vulnerability to help build understanding, trust, and cooperation between people of difference in order to bring about healing and peace to our lives and communities. We are thrilled to be joined for this special Lumzoom by authors (and former FAW staff), Marjory Bankson and Jean Milliken to discuss how peace is possible when we risk giving and receiving vulnerability in our lives and communities.
Each series includes time for participants to share and reflect in small groups. It is our hope that participants leave inspired to practice peace within themselves and to partner with us into the future through our Becoming Neighbors programs.
